“Sheree is a rare and exceptional woman who is impossible to pigeonhole.” - Gaby Roslin, BBC London

Creating Connection. Championing Inclusion. Inspiring Change

For over 30 years, I’ve brought people together through drama - whether in theatres, classrooms, or communities.  From grassroots initiatives to strategic leadership, my mission has always been to break down barriers and make theatre accessible to all, especially young people and those from marginalised backgrounds.

My own journey into the arts was anything but conventional. Proudly working-class and fiercely determined, I hitchhiked over 100 miles to audition for drama school! In the 1990s, I was the only female street performer in London’s Covent Garden, retiring in 2003 with a memorable guest appearance on The Graham Norton Show, before launching my own theatre company in 2007.

My experience on the street has informed my work ever since, producing and delivering a range of participatory theatre initiatives and creating unique site-specific performances in unexpected places - from rivers and playgrounds to art galleries, supermarkets and even the top of the iconic Croydon Clocktower.

I continue to advocate for theatre venues as vital cultural and community spaces and understand first-hand the importance of theatres as a place of creative expression, social connection, and local identity. Whether running venues, developing innovative programming, or fighting for their survival, I am committed to ensuring that theatres remain open, inclusive, and central to the communities they serve.

I thrive on co-creation and creative problem-solving, dedicating my life to championing grassroots organisations, advocating for inclusion, and proving that theatre and creative adventure belong to everyone.

“Sheree Vickers is an exceptional artist and an extraordinary human-being. I have had the privilege of watching her work and creative practice for nearly a decade. Her skills in mentoring artists of all backgrounds and abilities are both exemplary and unique, and her track-record of developing new work of innovation and calibre is outstanding.”

Jessica Hepburn - Author / Arts Producer / Adventure Activist & Former Executive Director of Lyric Theatre Hammersmith
